A 36-year-old driver, Abdulraheem Nasiru, was on Tuesday arraigned in a Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly molesting his daughter.

The defendant is standing trial on a one-count charge of molesting a minor (12 year old)

The man, Nasiru, of Jabi Daki Biyu village, Abuja, however, denied committing the offence.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Florence Auhioboh, told the court that one Charity Ishaya, wife of the defendant of same address, reported the matter at the Life Camp Police Station, Abuja on Jan. 31.

Auhioboh stated that the complait alleged that in December 2016, her husband inserted his finger in their 12-year-old daughter’s private part.

The prosecutor also stated that the offence contravened Section 275 of the Penal Code.

The defendant, later pleaded not guilty to the charge levelled against him, adding that the girl is his biological daughter and he cannot do that to her.

The counsel to the defendant, Charity Nwosu, applied for his bail, and assured the court that the defendant would not jump bail.

The judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, granted the accused a N50, 000 bail and one surety in like sum and adjourned the case till March 3, for further hearing.
