Manchester United's reserve team manager Warren Joyce has admitted he expects to see a number of the club's younger talents sent out on loan this month.

Speculation has been mounting in recent weeks that the likes of Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Sam Johnstone, James Wilson and James Weir could leave on temporary deals as Jose Mourinho trims his first-team squad for the new Premier League season.

Guillermo Varela and Adnan Januzaj have already been loaned out this summer to Eintracht Frankfurt and Sunderland respectively, while Paddy McNair and Donald Love joined David Moyes' Black Cats in a combined £5.5 million move.

And Joyce says he expects his current stocks to be trimmed by the departures of further players over the remaining few weeks of the transfer window.

"I would imagine, over the coming weeks, a few more will leave on loan," Joyce told ManUtd.com.

"They are ready for those steps and have got to be playing against men to show what they can do and push on from now. Once the window shuts, you know exactly what you’ve got and what your numbers are."

Joyce's United Under-23 side got their Premier League 2 campaign off to a promising start against an experienced Leicester City outfit on Monday in claiming a 1-0 win at Leigh Sports Village.

Borthwick-Jackson, who played 14 times for the first team under Louis van Gaal last season, played a full 90 minutes for the young Reds in his comeback from injury amid apparent interest from West Bromwich Albion regarding a season-long deal.
