A rumour on Thursday claimed that the Bayern Munich boss met with United officials in Paris last week to discuss a deal that would see him replace Louis van Gaal this summer
Pep Guardiola has not met with Manchester United officials to discuss a potential move to Old Trafford, Goal understands. On Thursday, French journalist Thierry Marchand claimed on the television show L’Equipe du Soir that the Bayern Munich boss had joined up with United officials in Paris last week. But United are adamant that no such meeting took place with Guardiola, who has already revealed his decision to leave Bayern at the end of the season when his contract expires. Louis van Gaal’s future at Old Trafford remains under intense speculation with United currently fifth in the Premier League, seven points behind leaders Arsenal, and out of the Champions League after failing to qualify from the group stage. Goal also understands that Manchester City have all but won the race for Guardiola, although neither the club or the Spaniard will make anything official before the end of the season. Earlier this month, Guardiola revealed that his next destination will be the Premier League but hinted that he could potentially have a season’s break after leaving Bayern. "Maybe it will be two years until I will coach a team in England,” said the 45-year-old. "I am very happy about my experience in Munich. I am working until my last second here. "After that I will go home and wait to see if it is possible to move to England or not. If it's not, then I won't."
