Renato Sanches’ move to Bayern Munich sent Manchester United fans into meltdown on Tuesday as Ed Woodward was slammed for missing out on another transfer target.
The 18-year-old had been extensively scouted by United, while reports had surfaced over the past month that the club were close to agreeing a £46 million deal with Benfica.
But Bayern’s announcement on Tuesday took everyone by surprise, not least United supporters who were quick to direct their anger towards their much-maligned executive vice-chairman...
**WOODWARD HAMMERED BY MAN UTD FANS
**
Hummels, Thiago, Sanches, Götze, Müller. All playing for the same team in red next season. But not #MUFC. Great work Ed Woodward

Sanchez signs for Bayern. Job well done Woodward

Jorge Mendes is agent to Renato Sanches, Mourinho & De Gea. Woodward & Co have clearly snubbed Jose again. We're screwed #MUFC

Scouted Sanches more than 20 times and then we remember, we have Ed Woodward, the biggest joke around. Pathetic. #MUFC
— Karl Moon (@NokkonWud) 10 May 2016
Ed Woodward's dithering once again cost United a signing with Sanches going to Bayern. Typical of the current regime at #MUFC
— Conor Matchett (@conorm11) 10 May 2016
We'd struggle to close a deal for Carlos Sanchez let alone Renato Sanches with a chairman as inept as Woodward so stop with the hysteria
— Mase (@MaseTheRed) 10 May 2016
Sanchez signs for Bayern in just one day and Manchester United have been looking for 100 years. Makes you wonder what Woodward does
— Steeze (@iamsteezze) 10 May 2016
Desperately hoping that being pipped to Sanches isn't the start of another classic Woodward summer... #MUFC
— Adam Mills (@AdamMillsUK) 10 May 2016
I thought Renato Sanches was a done deal to #MUFC with Mendes and Mourinho leading the charge. Oh, wait a minute, it's Woodward and LVG!

Bayern have signed Sanches and Hummels in a day while Ed Woodward is trying to sign Neymar
