The historic stadium in Rio de Janeiro will be the venue in which Brazil will hope to win their first gold medal, and will also host the draw on April 14

Brazil’s most famous football stadium, Rio’s great Maracana, will host the final of the men’s football tournament at the Rio 2016 Olympics on August 19, Fifa has confirmed.

The stadium will also host the draw for the group stages, with the event scheduled to take place at 10:30 local time on Tuesday April 14.

Rio de Janeiro will be one of six host cities for the tournament, with matches also set to take place in Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Manaus, Salvador and Sao Paulo

Hosts Brazil will be joined by Argentina, Denmark, Germany, Portugal, Sweden, Fiji, Honduras, Mexico, Algeria, Nigeria, South Africa, Iraq, Japan and South Korea in the men's tournament.

The final spot will be contested by either Colombia or USA, who will meet in a play-off next month.

The Olympic gold is the only football tournament for which Brazil are eligible that the five-time world champions are yet to win.

Selecao coach Dunga will lead the side in August’s tournament, with a squad made up of under-23 players and three permitted overage additions.

Local reports suggest Dunga’s preferred overage trio are Internacional goalkeeper Alisson, Inter defender Miranda, and Barcelona star Neymar.

June’s Copa America Centenario tournament may complicate matters for Dunga, however, as clubs are not obliged to release their players for the Olympics and will be reluctant to allow their stars to compete in both tournaments.
