Come September, Mercedes-Benz will lift the covers off its first all-electric sedan in the form of a rival to the Tesla Model S.
During discussions with Australian publication Motoring, the company's Australian senior manager of corporate communications David McCarthy said that the car will debut at the Paris Motor Show and give Tesla a “good reason to be concerned about it”.

In order to offer a true alternative to the Model S, Mercedes has designed its EV to have an all-electric range of approximately 310 miles. It should also be breathtakingly quick off the line like all Tesla products and as with other premium Mercedes-Benz models, incorporate the finest materials and technologies throughout the cabin.

According to McCarthy, “Look, [Daimler CEO] Zetsche’s often said that what Tesla has done has made EVs s3xy, and everyone knows what they are now. We’re in business to make money, and is our EV a Tesla killer? I don’t know, I haven’t seen it yet. But we wouldn’t be doing it unless we thought we could sell it.

“It’ll be in a price bracket similar to Tesla model S, have a similar cruising range, but it’ll be a Mercedes, so I think Tesla probably have good reason to be concerned about it,” he said.
