Relatives of three family members, who were aboard missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, have sued the airline and the Malaysian government for negligence and breach of contract, the plaintiffs’ lawyers said today (25/09//15).
The civil suit was filed before the Kuala Lumpur High Court on August 28, with the plaintiffs asking for unspecified general damages, aggravated and exemplary damages, as well as other relief the court deemed fit, according to lawyer Sangeet Kaur Deo.
As stated by Sangeet, the relatives of husband and wife Tan Ah Meng and Chuang Hsiu Ling and their eldest son Tan Wei Chew were also asking for a public apology from Malaysia Airlines, the civil aviation department and the Malaysian air force and the Malaysian government.
Kuala Lumpur High Court deputy registrar Norfauzani Mohamad Nordin scheduled a case management meeting on October 5, Sangeet added.
The case was the second filed in Malaysia by relatives of passengers aboard the Beijing-bound flight which disappeared March 8, 2014, about an hour after takeoff from Kuala Lumpur International Airprt.
Last year, two teenage boys, whose father was a passenger, filed a civil suit against the government and the airline but the case was settled amicably in June, 2015.
