After the Foxes took a shock one-nil lead at the Etihad, Owen stated the blindingly obvious when he said: "If it stays like this, Leicester win."
However the ex-England striker has hit back at those quick to mock his punditry, claiming he had been misquoted in an article in the Daily Star.
The commentator became the butt of internet jokes earlier this season when he explained the rain at the Britannia Stadium ahead of Stoke City's home game with Manchester City would "make the surface wet."
Arguably Owen's finest contribution to punditry came when he offered this damning indictment of Manchester City following their defeat to Stoke earlier this season.
Speaking on the inconsistency of Manuel Pellegrini's side 2-0 defeat at the Britannia Owen said: "When they don't score they hardly ever win."
Owen was in attendance as Leicester City beat Manchester City 3-1 to move five points clear at the top of the Premier League table.
