The governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko has nominated the wife of a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mrs Olasinmi Akindele-Odunmbaku, as a commissioner in the state.
Mrs Odunmbaku is wife of Mr. James Odunmbaku, a leader of the APC in Lagos State.
Although the commissioner-nominee is said to be a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), her husband who is a Lagos-based politician is said to be a close associate of Senator Bola Tinubu, national leader of the APC.
Mimiko presented her name to the state House of Assembly for screening yesterday.
The state Commissioner for Information, Mr. Kayode Akinmade, confirmed the development.
Describing Mrs Odunmbaku, he said: “She is an active member of the PDP in her local government and she was formerly of the Labour Party (LP). We came together to the PDP. She is a very committed politician and well-loved by her people.”
