The 28-year-old goalkeeper admits initial conversations about his move to Stamford Bridge sounded promising but is unhappy as a current back-up to Thibaut Courtois
Asmir Begovic claims his move to Chelsea has not gone as planned but insists he wants to remain at Stamford Bridge.
The 28-year-old joined from Stoke last summer, and although he deputised for Thibaut Courtois earlier this season, the Bosnia-Herzegovina international lost his place to the Belgian when he returned from a knee injury at the start of December.
“[Moving to Chelsea] wasn’t as simple as being No.1 or No.2 — I felt I needed a new challenge,” he told The Evening Standard.
“Certain things were put in place, conversations sounded good to me and I wanted to be part of a great club and help the team win trophies.
“It hasn’t gone as planned, but hopefully that will change and the future will look a bit brighter.”
