The arraignment of Gabriel Suswam, former governor of Benue, at a federal high court sitting in Abuja, today failed to come up as scheduled by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The anti-graft agency had indicated on Tuesday that it would arraign the former governor on Wednesday (today), but the case had reportedly not been assigned to a judge yet.
Newsmen present at the court disclosed that Suswam’s case did not come up in the course of its proceedings.
Suswam and his former finance commissioner, Omodachi Okolobia are facing trial for alleged diversion of the proceeds of the sale of shares owned by the Benue State government and Benue Investment and Property Company Ltd.
The offence is punishable under section 15(3) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act 20111 as amended in 2012.
