Popular businessman, Alhaji Aliko Dangote has said we don’t really want to see any more imported rice in Nigeria. As he spoke about the need to ensure the right fortification of food consumed by Nigerians, Aliko disclosed that the citizens should relax because the rice that they will consume forthwith will be fortified. According to him, the ones that are yet to be captured are the smuggled ones that came in through the border. He added that creating this standard will aid producers to deliver food that will make Nigerians live better. His words, “We don’t really want to see any more imported rice in Nigeria. But if we do, that rice will not be released by NAFDAC unless it is fortified. The major ones that we have not been able to capture are the small ones that are smuggled through the borders, which we hope will stop. “Rest assured that going forward, most of the rice that you would eat will be fortified.” Do you believe him? Aliko Dangote GCON (born 10 April 1957) is a Nigerian businessman, investor, and owner of the Dangote Group, which has interests in commodities in Nigeria and other African countries. Aliko Dangote, an ethnic Hausa Muslim from Kano, Kano State, was born on the 10th of April 1957 into a wealthy Muslim family. He is the great-grandson of Alhaji Alhassan Dantata, the richest West African at the time of his death in 1955. Dangote was educated at the Sheikh Ali Kumasi Madrasa, followed by Capital High School, Kano. He has a bachelor’s degree in business studies and administration from Al-Azhar University, Cairo.
