Two weeks after an initial protest by members of staff of the National Population Commission (NPC) in Abuja, the workers again have again trooped out in protest.

The staff members on Monday, January 29 mobilised their colleagues from states to protest at the commission’s Headquarter in Abuja.

Unlike the previous protests, the protesters this time bared every staff of the commission from gaining access to their offices as they blocked the gate.

The Federal Government had earlier appealed to the aggrieved workers on Friday, January 19, to resume duty as their grievances were being addressed.

The Minister of Labour, Dr Chris Ngige, made the appeal at a stakeholders meeting to resolve the crisis in Abuja.

Part of the demands of the protesting staff members is the call for the sack of the reappointed Director-General, Dr Ghaji Bello. The union leader also confirmed that the Directors and Commissioners of the commission have passed a vote of no confidence on the newly appointed DG.
