Fox, Riley and Almstadt are likely to face serious questions after a disastrous season in which Villa find themselves bottom despite a spending spree of over £50 million.
Villa signed 12 first-team players after the departures of Christian Benteke and Fabian Delph but many of those new recruits have struggled.
One of those players, Adama Traore, is understood to have signed a deal which will see his wages rise to over £90,000 a week over the course of his contract.
Traore was signed from Barcelona for £7 million in August and will be entitled to a staggering pay increase in his third season. Though the 20-year-old is likely to have a relegation clause in his contract and will be available this summer, the clauses in the deal underline the problems Hollis has faced since his arrival.
Rémi Garde, the Villa manager, will assess his own position at the end of the season but has admitted much will depend on the budget. He was frustrated after failing to make one signing in the January transfer window, with Villa’s board reluctant to spend big after such a drastic recruitment drive before the season started.
Shortly after his arrival Hollis admitted “You have got to look at the facts – this club spent £60m last summer. . That is a lot of money.
“It will be the board that actually makes decisions now. We will go through a proper process as to what we do and what we don’t do. That will include buying and selling players.”
Villa have only secured three wins in the league this season and were thrashed 6-0 by Liverpool in their last game.
Garde’s strugglers return to action this weekend with a trip to Stoke City, eight points adrift of safety.
