The newly appointed Ooni of Ife, Omo-Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi will in 21 days be crowned, it has been gathered.
One of the Ife kingmakers, who spoke to The Sun , said having been unanimously voted as the new monarch and officially announced by government, the tradition of the land demands that the “40-year old king must be crowned without any delay.”
Spokesman of the Lafogido family, one of the ruling houses that earlier went to court to challenge the kingmakers' endorsement of the Giesi Ruling House to produce the new Ooni, Sooko Adeleke Adewoyin said they (the ruling house) would soon sit to discuss the new development, adding that their grouse was with the selection process, which he described as “faulty and fraudulent.”
As stated by Adewoyin, since government had accepted the kingmakers’ choice, they will not fight government.
Calling on the people of the town to remain calm, Adewoyin remarked that the blood of an Ife man is not worth being shed over the choice of an Ooni.
