Opel will apparently finish up the development of their new generation Insignia by fall, as the vehicle is expected to debut at the 2016 Paris Auto Show in October, prior to its 2017 market launch.

Styling will mix elements from Opel's current range, including the Astra K, and their Monza Concept, though, the new Insignia won't become a four-door coupe, as Largus reports.

It will be underpinned by GM's new E2xx platform (name not confirmed yet), with the new Insignia sporting a 100mm longer wheelbase.

A new 1.6-liter CDTI diesel bi-turbo engine with 160hp, which is said to debut in the coming weeks on the Astra, should be part of the lineup. It will replace the current car's 2.0-liter CDTi. A 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol will be offered in different states of tune.

Besides the new design and fresh engine lineup, the 2017 Opel Insignia might also gain an 8-speed automatic gearbox, an all-wheel drive system and an adaptive suspension, as a previous report states. An OPC version is in the cards too.
