Rafa Benitez is already without Tim Krul and could now be forced to play his third-choice goalkeeper Karl Darlow for Saturday's key Premier League clash with Norwich City

Newcastle United have been dealt another injury blow after goalkeeper Rob Elliot limped out of Republic of Ireland’s friendly on Tuesday evening.

The 29-year-old was forced off with a twisted knee after he attempted to gather the ball during the clash with Slovakia.

With Tim Krul ruled out for the season, 25-year-old Karl Darlow would deputise for Eliot should he be ruled out for Saturday’s trip to Norwich.
Darlow, who spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest, has made two first team appearances this season.

Freddie Woodman, a 19-year-old who has not yet made his first-team debut, would be Rafa Benitez’s back-up option to Darlow.
