Brazil’s Olympic coach Rogerio Micale is confident Neymar, Douglas Costa and Fernando Prass can lead the side to victory in August’s Rio Games.
The trio were confirmed as Brazil's three overage players on Wednesday as the Selecao seek to claim the only title they are eligible for but have not yet won.
New senior team coach Tite has spoken of the need for more leaders in his squad and Micale echoed the former Corinthians man’s sentiments when confirming his 18 chosen Olympians.
“We have to try to add players who can lead, we cannot put the burden on just one player," Micale told a press conference.
“Neymar will of course serve us very well, I hope he will lead the younger players along with Prass and Douglas Costa.”
Bayern star Douglas Costa was desperate to be part of the Olympic campaign and, after pulling out of June’s Copa America through injury, Micale is delighted the 25-year-old was permitted leave by the German champions.
“Douglas Costa is a great player who all along has said that he would like to participate in the project,” said Micale.
“He has the characteristics of a Brazilian player and said that being here would be a dream come true.”
Brazil have been drawn in Group A of the Rio Olympics men’s football tournament and begin their campaign against South Africa in Brasilia on August 4.
