The Barcelona star appears set to resume his role as a false no.9 while China-based Renato Augusto will retain his role in midfield when the Selecao face Uruguay on Friday
On Tuesday Brazil coach Dunga took training at Granja Comary with his full squad for the first time this week, and appears to have settled on a starting line-up for Friday’s World Cup qualifier against Uruguay in Recife.
After a brief warm-up and a 'German training' passing drill, the coach broke the side into two teams for small-sided game.
Willian, Douglas Costa and Neymar led the attack, with Daniel Alves, Miranda, David Luiz and Filipe Luis in defence. Luiz Gustavo, Fernandinho and Renato Augusto completed the midfield, with Marcelo in goal while Alisson worked separately with goalkeeping coach Taffarel.
The first team now appears set to be: Alisson; Daniel Alves, Miranda, David Luiz and Filipe Luis; Fernandinho, Luiz Gustavo, Renato Augusto; Willian, Douglas Costa and Neymar.
Traditional centre-forwards Ricardo Oliveira and Jonas did participate in the eleven, leaving Neymar to operate as a false no.9, as he did in November’s 3-0 victory over Peru.
The side looks set to start in a 4-3-3 formation, shifting to a 4-5-1 when out of possession with wide men Costa and Willian dropping to form a five-man midfield.
