The Igbo apex ruling body, Ohaneze Ndigbo has warned in Onisha, Anambra State that if the National Conference currently going on in Abuja fails that Nigeria will break up.

Sounding a note of warning , the state chairman of Ohaneze, Elder Chris Eluemuno said, “this confab will decide the fate of Nigeria in the next five years. The National Assembly has to do a referendum on the outcome of the confab.”

Eluemuno, who is a delegate to the national conference, stated further that “our stand is that we will not disintegrate.”

He regretted that a northern delegate, Lamido Adamawa, who he stated is supposed to help build up the country would rather pitch his tent with enemies of the country by his uncomplementary remark that if the country disintegrates that he would go back to Cameroon.

His words: “Lamido who is a delegate stated he would go back to Cameroon if the country disintegrates in 2015”.

Eluemuno who belongs to Environmental Committee out of the 20 committees of the national conference stated: “Lamido of Adamawa is the problem of the House, even his own northern delegates are not happy with him.”

“What the President is doing is best. If the confab fails, Nigeria will break up. Jonathan was wise enough to take the bull by the horn by organising the conference.”

He disclosed further that the conference has nothing to do with the 2015 presidential election.

On terrorism, he stressed the need for the closure of some of the northern borders especially Cameroon adding, “our northern boarders are very porous, people go in and come out there as they like. Some of those boarders should be closed especially Cameroon boarder with Nigeria”.

“Look, Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State is now being referred to as a reference point in the National Conference because he brings all stakeholders involved in the fight against criminals. He held the first security summit ever in the state which the IG of Police attended and contributed towards crime eradication in the state.”

“Every community in the North should have security. Why must you call on the President on the problem you have in your domain. When we had kidnapping problem in Anambra State, we tackled it by ourselves”.

On the activities of the members of the conference so far, he revealed that they may ask for extension of time if after two months they were not be able to round up proceedings.
