As stated by the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, says President Goodluck Jonathan was able to get 71 votes at his (Ambode's) polling unit at Ward A5, polling unit 03, Epe, because members of the Peoples Democratic Party distributed cash. He, however, expressed pleasure in the fact that the APC presidential candidate, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd), got 97 votes. PUNCH reports that Ambode said: "Some PDP people distributed cash at my polling unit, but they still failed. Hopefully, subsequent elections will be different as people become more enlightened." Ambode stated the process of accreditation went smoothly in his area. Reacting, the PDP Lagos Chairman, Capt. Tunji Shelle, however, stated Ambode was making a baseless accusation because he was afraid of losing the April 11 governorship election. He said, "Who are the people who shared the money? Ambode knows that he will lose in the governorship poll. He should come forward with proofs."
