Many Nigerians have said the Ekiti governorship election was decided on the highest monetary bidder after Kayode Fayemi was declared a winner on Sunday.
The Nigerians who took to Twitter expressed sadness at the role money played during the election period.
Others also commended Fayemi for winning the election and blamed incumbent governor Ayodele Fayose for not doing his homework to ensure the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) wins.
See some of the reactions as captured by Famzn News:
All the PDP governors should have been in Ekiti since yesterday to support Fayose. All their presidential aspirants too but what do I know.
13 APC governors are in Ekiti giving Fayemi support.

1.Voters cld have collected Fayemi's money and still voted for PDP, they chose not to!
2.Most of us don't even know the name of the PDP candidate. It looked like Fayose was running!3.What exactly has Fayose done in Ekiti that is so spectacular to make you surprised they lost?!— Amina Ebele (@DeliciousAmina) July 15, 2018
FLASH: Fayemi wins #EkitiDecides201.
!LESSON: If u want to contest, dont waste ur money on pre-election activities, u don't need to help anybody or even be nice to anyone, just keep ur money & save towards election day, Then buy the people.
In Nigeria, we are our own problem

Final Word: clearly, this election was sold and bought. But hey, Fayemi returned a favor back to Fayose who introduced Stomach infrastructure to polity in his state. Now, multiply 200k votes by 10,000 which was what we gathered was budgeted per vote by the winner, that is about

Copied!
*#Advise If Fayose want Eleka to be Governor, this is the best time to do it. Since he is unhealthy and incapacitated at the moment, he shld resign, let Eleka become a substantive Governor, by so doing, Eleka will rule for abt 60 days as Governor before Fayemi comes in

Those who "voted PDP out" because of corruption are rejoicing that Fayemi used public funds…sorry, his savings to pay Ekiti people N5,000 to vote for him. Good! At least we won't use anti corruption as an issue for 2019.
