Young George Shaw, a cerebral palsy sufferer, was invited onto the pitch at half-time against Swansea City and scored, with his goal earning 86 per cent of the vote
In the most heart-warming story you will read today, young Everton fan and cerebral palsy sufferer George Shaw has won the club's goal of the month competition.
The nine-year-old came to the attention of Everton fans after a video emerged on Twitter of him playing football and he was soon gifted tickets to Sunday's clash with Swansea City by Gerard Deulofeu.
While watching his favourite team live, George was invited onto the pitch to score in front of the home supporters in a heartwarming moment during the break.
The strike garnered 86.07 per cent of the vote on the club's official website and George will now attend the club's end-of-season awards gala in May.
"I never thought I would win. I thought I'd come close because of all the support I’ve had but I can’t believe I won!" George told the club's official website.
"Thank you so much to everyone who voted for me. I can’t wait for the end-of-season awards now. It will be great."
