Despite working on 10 autonomous cars by 2020, engineers at Nissan apparently got bored and developed this; a self-parking office chair.
Officially dubbed an “Intelligent Parking Chair”, Nissan's head-scratching creation looks like a normal office chair, albeit for the custom circular base that utilizes electric motors and wheels, giving the chair 360 degrees of motion.
When combined with four cameras placed throughout a room, the chairs have a virtual map of the space around them and with a simple clap of the hands, can all slide neatly under a desk or table, potentially giving us a look into the future of classrooms and offices.
Unsurprisingly, the self-parking chair wasn't created with the intent of being produced and is instead a unique way to showcase Nissan's advanced autonomous technologies.
Considering how seamlessly the chairs seem to work, we wouldn't be surprised to see a technology company try and make them a production reality.
