Nissan has given Canadians a new version of the Micra sub-compact loosely inspired by the racing cup model.

Named the Micra Cup Limited Edition, it comes in white with red racing stripes and bespoke 15-inch wheels,  along with an individually numbered plaque, signed by Olivier Bedard, reigning champion in the Nissan Micra Cup competition, on the inside.

Nissan will only produce 250 units of the new Micra Cup Edition, however, no official price has been released so far. However, we will remind you that Canadians have to pay CAD $9,998 (USD $7,078) for the cheapest version of the Micra, equipped with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder DOHC mill, rated at 109hp (111PS) and 107lb-ft (145Nm) of torque.

Concerning the real motorsport version, it comes with the company's stock 1.6-liter DOHC four-pot unit, with direct fuel injection and Twin CVTC (Continuously Variable Timing Control), pinned to a stock 5-speed manual transmission.

More than 25 Nissan Micras competed in the inaugural season, on each race weekend, for two hours of track time consisting of 30-minute trial, 30-minuted qualifying session and two 30-minute races. The first two races for 2016 will kickoff at Calabogie Motorsports Park, on May 14-15, and the calendar will end on September 23-25, at Circuit Mont-Tremblant. Full race calendar is available below.
