Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun has acknowledged that the state shouldn't be keen to offer an “an inch of its land” for cattle ranching.
Famzn News recall that the Federal Government is planning to determine ranches throughout the nation to tame the recurrent herdsmen and farmers clashes.
However, Aregbesola mentioned the state already has a ranch in Oloba neighborhood, saying there was no want to offer out land for such goal once more.
“Osun has its own ranch in Oloba, Iwo and there is a programme to set up ranches in the three senatorial districts in the state,” the governor advised Punch.
“The Oloba cattle ranch is already functioning by offering cattle ranching and ram-fattening providers.
“Plans are in superior phases to carry the excessive yielding Boran cattle to Oloba for breeding and crossbreeding with our native breeds.
“All these have been happening since 2012 as a part of the agriculture growth programme of the Aregbesola administration and precede the herdsmen farmers brouhaha.
“If the Federal Government wants to buy into this, it is welcome. The state, however, is not ceding an inch of its land for any other purpose.”
