Pep Guardiola wants the goalkeeper at the Etihad, and is confident of landing him ahead of Liverpool should the Spanish giants not give him assurances over being their No.1
Barca would expect around £24 million for Ter Stegen, but can drive the price up with the Etihad side able to trump Liverpool in terms of a transfer fee and pay packet.
His release clause is £63m, with his contract up in June 2019.
While the reigning European champions would be inclined to hold onto Ter Stegen, his sale would create room in their budget, which will be greatly diminished by Neymar’s renewal and the wage increase due to Lionel Messi.
