Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has emphasized that no local government area in the state is currently under the control of bandits or terrorists, despite ongoing security challenges.
This statement was made by Governor Mutfwang during an interactive session with journalists at the New Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos, on Tuesday.
“No local government area in Plateau is under Bandit control. Previously, Wase and Kanam LGAs faced such issues, but the military has successfully driven them out,” Mutfwang remarked.
The governor asserted that, contrary to external perceptions, Plateau is relatively safer than many other northern states, highlighting that while there are isolated incidents of violence in some local government areas, significant progress has been made towards restoring peace.
Additionally, the governor reiterated his endorsement of state policing, noting that this initiative would significantly aid in preventing frequent attacks and protecting innocent lives.
In his commitment to enhancing security, he also pledged to revitalize Operation Rainbow to support the efforts of Operation Safe Haven and other security forces in the region.
