A statement on Madrid Open's website says Novak Djokovic will not to play in the forthcoming Madrid Open. Djokovic has decided to rest for the Rome Masters and French Open. The Serbian ace has won three events in a row, beating Roger Federer in the final to win at Indian Wells before dealing out a similar punishment to Andy Murray in Miami. And he concluded his hat-trick by downing Tomas Berdych to claim the Monte Carlo Masters and begin his clay-court campaign in style. However, it is the French Open title that Djokovic wants to see on his CV as it is the one Grand Slam event that he has yet to win and, with that in mind, he has opted not to play in the Spanish capital. The statement on the Madrid Open's official website said the 2011 champion would “take time out to rest before continuing with his planned calendar at the Rome and Roland Garros tournaments.”
