Embattled Governor of Rivers State, Barrister Nyisom Wike, today said there is nothing new in the ministerial appointment of anybody (seems like a veiled reference to his political foe and former Governor of the state, Rotimi Amaechi), saying it was strange to him that people needed to print T-Shirts to become ministers.

He stated that despite the judgement that voided is victory, he still believed in the Judiciary saying that there is no other option than to abide by the judgment.

“What happened yesterday is clear sign that victory will be ours. It is not in or training to cast aspersions on judges. We will continue to have faith in the judiciary. That was why when we came into office, the first thing we did was to bring back the judiciary,” Wike stated.

Mocking Amaechi, Wike said other people from the state had been ministers and underwent all the due processes without all the fuss.

This was in apparent reference to all the acrimony that attended the screening of Amaechi after a protracted game over the matter.

“I was a Minister in this country. I never knew that to be minister, you need to print T-Shirts,” Wike told the huge crowd of supporters that came for the Church service.

He added: “Addressing the senate is not a new thing. What is new about addressing Senate? What is important is that we will continue to protect our state and our resources will not be used for things that will not help Rivers state. But we will never go back to the era of captivity.”

Wike said that “The final victory is a better victory” to the admiration of the congregation.

Earlier his Deputy had told the congregation that she and Wike would defend the mandate given to them by the people of the state.

She went to the events leading to the election saying there was nothing that the Amaechi government did not do to stop Wike’s victory.

“But we won,” she stated.

At the thanksgiving was the Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Chief Uche Secondus and other party leaders in the state.
