Manchester United and Tottenham have missed out on Breel Embolo after Schalke confirmed they have signed the striker from Basel on a five-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
Embolo, a highly-rated Switzerland international, scored 13 goals for Basel last season as his side won the Swiss Super League by 14 points.
The 19-year-old was subsequently named in Switzerland's Euro 2016 squad and featured in all four games for Vladimir Petkovic's side, who bowed out of the tournament in a penalty shoot-out defeat against Poland on Saturday.
Embolo was coveted by a number of European clubs, with both United and Spurs heavily linked with potential moves for the teenager. Basel were also reported to have rejected a €27 million bid for the striker from Wolfsburg in January.
However, he has now brought all speculation over his future to an end by agreeing to join Schalke ahead of the 2016-17 campaign.
Schalke finished fifth in the Bundesliga last season, accuring 52 points from 34 games.
