The Delta State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday, elected Cyril Ogodo as state chairman of the party.

Chairman of the congress committee, Eugene Odoh, said Ogodo, who is the immediate Vice Chairman of the party, polled a total of 731 votes to defeat his only rival, Fred Obe, who got 99 votes out of 1439 votes, 10 of which were voided.

The congress which ought to have been held last Saturday was postponed by the National Working Committee, NWC of the party.

Speaking on the conduct of the exercise, leader of the party in the state, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor said: “We have gone ahead to obey the NWC which postponed the congress for today (Sunday).

“At the end of this exercise, the appeal committee will review what was been done before the results would be taken to Abuja for certification.”

Speaking on efforts to reach out to aggrieved members of the party, he said: “After this congress, we would reach out to them and that is the role national is going to play.”

Also speaking, APC governorship aspirant in the state, Victor Ochei said: “The organization, voting and process has been fantastic and am impressed that everybody is here to witness what a real state congress is.”
