The Ogun State Police Command yesterday offered N5 million reward for information that could lead to rescue of a former minister, Iyabo Anisulowo, who was kidnapped last week. The 65-year-old, who served in the military regime of Gen. Sani Abacha, has so far spent seven days in captivity.

She was abducted last Wednesday while returning from her farm in Sawonjo in Yewa South Local Council of the state. Officials had earlier briefed newsmen that the abductors demanded N200 million ransom.

Police yesterday said they were offering a cash reward to hasten Mrs. Anisulowo’s rescue. “The Ogun State Police Command has offered N5 million reward to any informant(s) who has useful information for the police on the kidnapping of the former senator and minister,” a statement from the police stated.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said in the statement that the Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali, made the declaration after a security meeting with officers of the command, and other security chiefs in the state.

He added that the command had dedicated 09020911911, 08081774631, 08081766937 for the public to reach the police, with the assurance that informants would enjoy adequate security, as their information would be made confidential.
