Former presidential aide Reno Omokri has described Leah Sharibu as courageous, blasting President Muhammdu Buhari for keeping silence over her release.
Leah was among girls kidnapped by Boko Haram insurgents but was not released after her mates were freed due to her refusal to denounce her faith.
Speaking on her continued detention, Omokri said Leah has been forgotten by the government just as Buhari never mentioned her name during Children’s Day celebrations or Democracy Day.
“Leah Sheribu should not be forgotten. She is a child at just 15. Buhari didn’t mention her on Children’s Day neither did he on Democracy Day. What she is going through is similar to what Malala Yousafzai went through. Even if Buhari has forgotten her, Nigerians should not forget,” Omokri tweeted.
“Leah Sheribu is the girl who refused to give up her faith in Christ even at pain of death. When you promote a Nigerian politician who is prepared to give up party allegiance, remember Nigeria has people like Leah, a conscience driven individual with the courage of her conviction.”
