Yesterday, protesters disrupted vehicular movement for several hours along the Onitsha-Awka old road.
Members of the Association of Small and Medium Scale (SME) Industries, Anambra State, protested over their disconnection from public power source by the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC).
The protesters numbering more than 20,000 stormed the Ogidi office of the EEDC in long convoy of chattered vehicles with placards to express their grievances over what they called exploitation in the hands of EEDC.
Addressing reporters at the EEDC premises, President of the Association, Mr. Johnson Okolo said members of the union, including apprentices under their care decided to relocate to the EEDC office for employment since the company had allegedly crippled their businesses by disconnecting their electricity supply.
