The Ooni of Ife, Oba Ogunwusi Enitan Adeyeye, Ojaja II has advised proprietors of private schools to concentrate on providing quality education rather than profit.
The monarch gave the advice when members of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, South West Zone, visited him in his palace.
He said: “Don’t say because others have established schools, so you must establish yours as well.
“What is the quality of the students produced in your schools?; what lessons do you impart in them?
“You do not know if that is a future president you have educated, and he or she would never forget forever, just like I have ascended the throne of my ancestors.
“As humans we look at outward appearance, while God looks at our hearts. Only God knows tomorrow.”
As stated by Ogunwusi, emphasising the provision of quality education and a brighter future for the students was more `profitable and inexhaustible’ than financial reward.
He expressed excitement and gratitude to the teachers for their visit and promised to collaborate with the teachers to ensure the provision of quality education.
“I am motivated by the desire to guarantee a bright future for the pupils.
“For this reason, I will collaborate with you (teachers); we would share ideas on strategies that will ensure a more meaningful and successful future for them.
“If you mould their future, certainly money will come,” he stated.
