Federal lawmakers who recently defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) should not expect automatic ticket from the opposition party.
That was the submission of the National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, on Thursday, when he addressed newsmen in Abuja.
He met with the APC caucus in the House of Representatives led by the Majority Leader of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila, at the party’s secretariat in the nation’s capital.
The former governor of Edo state wondered why the lawmakers believed that they would be get automatic ticket from the PDP, as he described such promise as a mirage.
But he said the ruling party was always willing to receive those who defected from the party should they want to return.
Fifty-one lawmakers ended their APC membership on Tuesday. While 14 senators said their good byes to the ruling party, 37 members of the House of Representatives resigned from the party.
The senator who defected to the PDP included Dino Melaye (Kogi), Rabiu Kwankwaso (Kano), Abdulazeez Nyako (Adamawa), Barnabas Gemade (Benue).
Others were Ibrahim Dambaba, Shaaba Lafiaji (Kwara), Rafiu Ibrahim (Kwara), and Monsurat Sunmonu (Oyo), among others.
