The Colombia international has the full support of the Arsenal staff, who are united in their belief that he has the experience to cope with the pressure of Saturday's derby
Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has full confidence that understudy David Ospina will shine when the Gunners take on Tottenham in a vital Premier League encounter at White Hart Lane.
The Gunners, who lie third in the standings six points behind leaders Leicester, meet their second-placed rivals, who are three marks better off than them, in a vital derby match on Saturday.
Cech, ever present in the league until this point, will miss out due to an injury sustained in the midweek loss to Swansea, but he believes the Colombia international can produce a decisive display.
Speaking to Arsenal’s official website, he said: “I think everybody at the club, including the staff and the players, has big confidence in him because we can see in training and in his international games that he is a great goalkeeper.
“We have full confidence in him and it won’t be a problem. He has enough experience to play this type of game and he has played this game before so I think he will be fine.”
The former Chelsea shot-stopper also believes he still has a part to play during the period of his absence, which is estimated will be around a month.
“We have a mutual support for each other and I think this is the most important in a mini group of goalkeepers - sticking together, working together and pushing each other in training. It is ideal for a goalkeeper.
“I believe this will hopefully help him as well to come in and continue his good work.”
Ospina has only played five times for Arsene Wenger's outfit since the start of the season.
