Osun State All Progressives Congress has accused the senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the Osun East Senatorial District, Chief Francis Fadahunsi of organizing an attack on the Electoral Officer of the Ife East Local Government in order to manipulate the results of the election for the Osun East district. The party in a statement by the Media Assistant in the Election Situation Room, Mr. Kunle Owolabi, stated Sunday night that the Electoral Officer whose name was simply given as Mr. Awolusi, was initially feared to have absconded as he did not show up at the final collation centre where the results of the poll in the senatorial district would have been announced. The party claimed that it did not take long before Awolusi reappeared and claimed that some unknown men attacked him on his way to the Collation Centre and took over the result sheet from him and mutilated it. "This has held up the announcement of the result for the district but we know their plan. It is all to falsify the result in order to give victory to Fadaunsi who has been roundly defeated by our candidate, the incumbent Senator Jide Omoworare," the Situation Room alleged. Based on what was gathered, the incident may have been reported to the police. The party stated those who wanted to falsify the result have forgotten that a duplicate copy of the mutilated result is available noting that "The action and plot by Fadaunsi is an effort in futility. Our party had won and the result is out and it cannot be changed," the party stated.
