The Osun State Council of Traditional Rulers today, said that monarchs in the state were ready to offer assistance to bring out the state government from its current financial challenges and other problems.
This was discosed by the chairman of Council of Traditional Rulers in the state, Oba Adekunle Aromolaran, while briefing newsmen in Osogbo after the meeting of the council held at the Centre for Black Culture and International Understanding.
Oba Aromolaran said the council was ready to partner with the state government for the development of the state in whatever capacity they could.
”The Council of Traditional Rulers in the state is ready to find ways and means to help the government of the state. We want Osun to recover from its illnesses.
“We want workers to earn their salaries, pensioners as and when due. We want peace in the state and we want pensioners to be able to live longer than before," he stated.
Aromolaran explained that the problems facing the state were not peculiar to it, adding that the monarchs would do the best they could to help the state out of the troubled water.
The monarch used the opportunity to debunk the rumour of his death, saying it was the handiwork of mischief makers, who should be ignored.
Asked if he would quit as the chairman of the council by the time the Ooni-elect was installed, he said ” I would not answer such question.”
He said he did not beg for the position and it was not a position to be contested.
Oba Aromolaran said, ” My appointment- I did not beg for the position. When Ooni Sijuwade was alive, I was the one doing most of the work. This is not a position we have to contest.”
Aromolaran also suggested mutual respect between herdsmen and farmers as a panacea to the frequent problem between the two groups.
He warned against trespass, while urging security agencies to enforce the law to prevent people from resorting to self help.
Some of the traditional rulers present at the meeting include the Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Lawal; the Owamiran of Esa Oke, Oba Akanbi Adesina among others.
