Osun State Government has commenced the reconstruction of major intra-city roads within Osogbo, the state's capital.

Governor Rauf Aregbesola at the Flag-off of the 2.8 Kilometer Olaiya-Jaleyemi-Asubiaro to Ita-Olookan road in Osogbo on Friday, stated that the reconstruction of the roads was part of the promises made by his administration.

As stated by him, the projects would lift the face of the city and ensure easy traffic flow.

The Governor maintained that the dual carriage way project estimated to gulp about 985 Million Naira would be completed and delivered within six months.

While appealing to those whose buildings would be affected in the course of the reconstruction work, Governor Aregbesola gave the assurance that about 392 million Naira had been set aside as compensation and that a committee would also be set up to build new houses for those whose family houses would be demolished.

The Governor stated that the road, when completed, would turn Osogbo to a truly modern town, promising to ensure that all projects started by his administration would be completed before the expiration of his tenure in 2018.

Attributing the non-completion of other ongoing projects to paucity of funds, Governor Aregbesola assured the people that he would do all within his power to give the people a meaningful life.
