The Election Petitions Tribunal hearing matters arising from the 2015 general election in Osun State has reserved indefinitely judgment in the petition filed by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun East Senatorial District, Mr. Francis Fadahunsi against Senator Babajide Omoworare of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Chairman of the panel, Justice A. G. Kwajaffa, announced today that parties in the petition would be informed of the judgment day after the parties had adopted their written addresses.

The petitioner, who called 30 witnesses and tendered documentary evidence prayed the tribunal to void Omoworare’s victory and declare him the lawful winner of the poll.

Counsel for the 1st and 2nd petitioners, Mr. Nathaniel Oke (SAN), urged the tribunal to grant the reliefs of the petitioners, saying they have proved their case based on documentary and oral testimonies by 30 witnesses called during the hearing.

Counsel for the APC senator who was declared the winner of the election however, prayed the tribunal to dismiss the petition against him.

The counsel, Mr. Ipoola Binuyo, prayed the panel to dismiss Fadahunsi’s petition which he described as frivolous and unwarranted.

Counsel for the APC, Mr. Ibrahim Lawal, also asked the tribunal to dismiss the petition, saying the petitioners failed to prove their case of irregularities and manipulation in the election.
