In 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015, Chevrolet only produced 69 examples of the COPO Camaro drag racer annually, however, even that fact didn't stop some 5,500 customers from attempting to purchase a 2016 model.
During an event at the firm's Performance and Racing Center in Michigan, GM vice president of performance vehicles and motorsports, Jim Campbell, revealed to Autoblog just how popular the car is, even though it's restricted solely to the drag strip.
While he failed to say if the automaker actually turns a profit on the car, he did confirm that it helps Chevrolet by boosting the image of the Camaro, now in its sixth-generation.
Pricing details for the COPO Camaro haven't been made public, however, due to the range options available, prices vary. On an engine front for example, customers can opt for either a 5.7-liter, 6.2-liter or 7.0-liter V8 engine or alternatively, a specifically-designed 350 racing engine complemented with a 2.9-liter Whipple supercharger.
