The Aston Villa striker got on the scoresheet in an important 2-0 win against Norwich City and criticised the media after the match for linking him with a January departure
Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor hit out at the media for "chatting s**t" regarding his potential exit during the January transfer window.
Villa, who are bottom of the Premier League and still favourites for relegation, recorded a much needed 2-0 win over Norwich City on Saturday, with Agbonlahor netting the second goal.
The 29-year-old spoke after the match of his side's renewed hope of pulling off an unlikely escape - but not before putting the media in their place regarding rumours of his departure.
"I think the papers like to chat a load of s**t really," the striker told BBC Sport.
"We are going to keep fighting until the end. That is all the club expects from us. Take it game by game.
"There is no reason why we cannot escape. We showed fight today. We had a game plan: we defended well and attacked well."
Aston Villa have 16 points from 25 games, with 13 matches left to play. They trail 17th-place Newcastle United by eight points.
