At least 62 Elephants have been slaughtered by suspected park rangers over non-payment of salaries in Zimbabwe.
The bodies of the elephants were found lifeless in the Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe, and police investigations suspect the park rangers carried out the brutal killings in protest for not being paid their wages.
Some of the elephants were poisoned with suspected cyanide while others were found beheaded. Some of the bloody tusks were found on the floor next to them, and many more were found in suitcases.
Meanwhile, officials at the Harare International Airport, seized about 380 pounds of ivory, which is worth about $43,000. They were about to be smuggled into Singapore.
The officials said, “three Zimbabweans and a Malian national were arrested over the smuggling bid.”
Photos and videos of the beheaded animals were posted to the Internet and they have since gone viral.
