A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oshodi Local Government, Lagos State, Remi Adiukwu has joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) with hundreds of her followers.
Adiukwu, a former commissioner within the state acknowledged that her defection was motivated by the sterling efficiency of Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode.
Speaking on Tuesday, she mentioned: “I'm again within the party, after I say I'm again, I'm actively again. I'm enlightened now.
“Election is coming, we'll do it with all our energy to ship again to the party all of the slots and mandates we took from APC to PDP throughout the 2015 election.
“PDP is now useless on this council, no extra opposition. This council is totally for APC now. I pledge my loyalty.
“My sojourn away from the party was based on principle just as my return today is encouraged today by the same principle of supporting only good things that will be beneficial to Lagos.”
The Chairman of APC in Oshodi Local Government, Olamide Kasali acknowledged that the ruling party knew the burden of the defector and the problem she gave the party in 2015 elections.
“She is the bedrock of opposition in the council,” Kasali mentioned as he introduced APC flag to the defector.
As acknowledged by him, with Adiukwu’s defection, the worry of APC throughout elections has gone as the event marks an finish to the opposition within the council.
