The Manchester City manager says comments made by Dimitri Seluk in recent years have had no bearing on what happens at the Etihad Stadium
Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini says claims made by Yaya Toure's agent in recent years have made zero impact.
Dimitri Seluk, who represents Toure, has been at the heart of speculation about the City midfielder's future for the many of the most recent transfer windows.
It was he who claimed the City hierarchy do not show the midfielder sufficient respect - underpinned by their supposed failure to present him with a birthday cake - and last May he said Toure was "90 per cent certain to leave" ahead of the 2015-16 campaign.
In recent weeks Seluk has hit out at Pep Guardiola, who is expected to take over from Pellegrini this summer, and has also suggested that Toure could finally leave the Etihad Stadium in the coming months.
But Pellegrini says it does not matter what Seluk has had to say: "And what happened? Nothing. He gave his opinion last season and nothing more."
And the Chilean added that he believes Toure is completely focused on City, even if his agent is looking elsewhere.
"I don’t want to try to answer to every agent who talks different things," he added. "I know what Yaya Thinks, I know Yaya is mentally absolutely involved in this season, he’s not thinking about his future, he wants to continue being the same important player he has been for this team in other years, so I don’t think that it’s important to answer different opinions.
"So many different agents of different players can have their opinion, I don’t think it’s important."
