The Manchester City left-back does not think his current boss will change his understated approach for Sunday's big game against Liverpool at Wembley
Manchester City defender Gael Clichy says Manuel Pellegrini manages the club in much the same way as Arsene Wenger at Arsenal.
Clichy moved to the Gunners as a teenager and spent eight years under Wenger's wing in London, before signing for City in 2011 during Roberto Mancini's days at the Etihad Stadium.
The Frenchman has now worked with Pellegrini, who replaced Mancini in 2013, for over two years and he says his calm, measured approach to man management is similar to that of his old boss at the Emirates.
"He reminds me a bit of Arsene Wenger – very calm, whatever situation we are in he always try to keep the players calm," he told reporters.
"That is a massive point for a manager and the players. You can have a reaction by telling off the players but sometimes you can gain a lot of confidence by being calm and he is the kind of manager that brings calmness to the dressing room."
Clichy is gearing up for Sunday's League Cup final clash against Liverpool and he does not expect Pellegrini, who has the chance to win his third trophy in three seasons at City, to change his understated ways for the big Wembley occasion.
"I think for this game he will be exactly the same," he added. "He will want us to play the way we want to play. With the quality we have, if we start the game well, there is no reason why we should not have a great game. Hopefully it will be one of those games where things go well for us."
City will face off against Jurgen Klopp for the second time at Wembley, three months after the Reds handed out a 4-1 hammering in their first meeting of the season.
The Blues were outdone by individual errors and the Merseysiders' high pressing on that day and Clichy says he now knows what to expect from Sunday's opponents.
He added: "I think he [Klopp] is a really good manager, it is a fantastic club, one of the best in England and Europe. We know what to expect from them – great players, great team. They work hard for each other. It is a final. You want to win every game but a final is something special. What to expect from them is a hard game with talented players and hopefully the best team will win."
Clichy was kept on the bench as City won the League Cup at Wembley two years ago, and while he has always been a fan of the famous stadium it was a show of solidarity between England and France following November's terrorist attack in Paris which really made him appreciate the home of English football.
"Even though I am not an English player it is a name you know when you are a kid," he continued. "You want to play in those kind of stadiums. We are lucky enough. It is an amazing stadium. Hopefully it will be full with blue and red colours.
"But right now the image that comes to mind was the game England played against France and seeing those colours, everyone united for the same reason. I think football is a beautiful game and those kind of days are beautiful and that is why we play football. Of course we want to win it but we are going to try to enjoy it as well."
