The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has instructed President Muhammadu Buhari that the media trial of its members wouldn't cease his defeat in 2019.
This was contained in an assertion by the PDP on Friday the place it accused the Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC) authorities of persecuting members of the opposition had been being beneath the guise of preventing corruption.
“The PDP particularly rejects the emerging trend by the EFCC, wherein accused persons and individuals who are still under investigation on alleged corruption charges are paraded and forced to hang criminal tags,” the assertion stated.
“This was meted out to former Kaduna State Governor Muktar Yero, even when he has not been convicted by any court of competent jurisdiction.”
PDP also said that it's “completely towards the desperation by the EFCC, working beneath the instruction of the APC, to declare a responsible verdict on accused individuals with out trial by the courts.
“This is all within the bid to convey perceived political opponents to public odium and emasculate the opposition forward of 2019 common elections.”
