golfSamson Lawal has been elected as the Director of Professional Golfers Association of Nigeria (PGAN) at the body’s Annual General Meeting held at Golden Palm Hotel, Otukpo, Benue State.

Lawal, the Resident Professional Golfer of Lamingo Golf Club, Jos, was declared the winner by the Returning Officer, Mrs Ify Uba, for polling 60 votes against 43 votes by Dominic Andrew from IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja.

He will now take over from Festus Makelemi for a new term of two years.

Lawrence Matthew from Ikoyi Club 1938 defeated Segun Obamuwe and Martin Odoh to emerge as the Director of Operations, while Uche Eze from IBB Club polled 69 votes at the expense of Mike Ubi of Air Assault, Port Harcourt (21 votes) and Ladi Jaiyeola (13 votes) for the post of Tournament Director.

Donatus Isuku was unopposed for the post of Finance Director, while Sunday J. Odegha and Kingsley Oparaku were elected as the ex-co members.

Lawal promised to improve on members’ welfare and secure more tournaments for the golf professional body through enhanced relations with corporate Nigeria.
